Just finished: excellent body, repainted in quality base coat/clear coat BRG acrylic, than hand wet sanded and buffed to a show quality finish, mostly new chrome, wire wheels. Not sure if the photos do it justice but everyone at our company tells me it is absolutely dazzling (and I agree)
We even eliminated the side lights, fabricated metal pieces and welded them into place. The idea being to make the exterior virtually identical to the mid 60s BGTs, generally considered the best looking.
Excellent engine with very few miles since being rebuilt, 155-160 psi compression in every cylinder, 80 psi oil pressure when warm, no smoke, new 32/36 DGV Weber carb with electric choke, 4 speed all synchromesh transmission with perfect working overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears. Mostly new brakes, new radiator, oil cooler, new exhaust system, a more powerful after market heater blower, excellent electrics, all working gauges, mostly new camel interior (and we installed low back seats as would have been installed in the mid 1960s...and they even recline), wood dashboard (not yet installed), new classic looking (knobs, not buttons) digital stereo with bluetooth and new quality speakers.
MGBGTs are stylish coupes that make excellent every day cars, even now after more than a half century. With overdrive, this car cruises nicely at 80-90 mph, is quiet and refined, with light precise steering, excellent ride characteristics, AND can be further enhanced with available options and accessories: full fabric sunroof, powerful auxiliary heater, chrome wire wheels or replica Minilite wheels, driving lights, on and on. From personal experience (owning a near identical 1974 BGT) they are one of the most versatile collector's cars for all weather use.
