A car we sold in 2006, just back.
Always an Arizona car (last Arizona title shows it was first registered there in 4/1953), no rust, really clean underneath. Excellent body and deep maroon paint. And new tan leather interior.
When originally sold, we did the following pre delivery prep work:
- Remove engine, machine crankshaft and fit Al Moss crankshaft seal
- Check crank condition, fit new rod and main bearings (old ones were like new)
- Strip and check oil pump, fit new rotor
- Balance flywheel and fit new clutch, install new ring gear
- New engine and trans mounts, clean and paint engine, sandblast and power coat exhaust manifold
- Remove radiator, pressure check and clean (at Radiator shop)
- Install new carpets, install new tan leather seats/interior
Tan cloth top and side curtains are in very good condition as is the matching tan full tonneau. On the road this car is unusually powerful, revs quickly, maintains 80 psi oil pressure, no smoke hot or cold, gearbox sounds and feels very good, brakes work well, has a relatively new set of radial tires, engine bay is very clean and its the often missing original air cleaner assembly.
Engine number and chassis plate so, yes, a `matching number car.` Nice.
Chrome is very good, all of the rubber seals and gaskets appear to be fairly new, runs and drives exceptionally well. Refinished wood dash and a beautiful `period` wood steering wheel. All in all a very nice car.
So went from Arizona to us, sold to a fellow in South Carolina, 62,500 miles in 2006 and 65,800 miles today. Driven 3,000 miles over the past 16 years. And, thus, $3,000 on a redone engine bottom end and clutch. Clearly ready for its next 70 years of use.
